IRIS UAE Exhibition 2023

The International Restorative and Implant Symposium (IRIS) is the first in the Middle East. IRIS will take place on November 23-25, 2023, at the Dubai World Trade Center, U.A.E.

The Southern California School of Dentistry organized this symposium to bring together esteemed experts from various dental disciplines. The expert speakers will focus on the significance of accurate diagnoses for effective treatments.

The symposium will cover many topics related to Prosthodontics, Periodontics, and Endodontics.

Digital Dentistry and 3D Printing

IRIS offers interactive workshops where attendees can enhance their skills under the guidance of experienced mentors. Participants can learn about the latest techniques and technologies in restorative and implant dentistry, including digital dentistry and 3D printing.

What is Digital Dentistry?

Digital dentistry refers to dental technology that uses computers and software to aid dental professionals. It allows dentists to diagnose, plan, and create dental products using computer-based tools like digital scanners. These digital solutions speed up the process and reduce manual work.

Digital dental technologies in clinics or labs serve various purposes, such as imaging, scanning, digital design, and 3D printing/milling. These technologies work together to plan treatments and create final products. They enhance the strength and aesthetics of restorations, reduce costs, and enhance practice efficiency.

Digital Scanners in Dentistry

Digital Scanners in Dentistry

Digital scanners in dentistry come in two main types: scanners used in clinics and scanners used in labs. Clinic scanners include Cone Beam CT (CBCT) for mouth X-rays and intraoral scanners that replace traditional impressions. Intraoral scanners create detailed 3D images of the patient's teeth, capturing the smallest issues. These scans can be combined with images from intraoral cameras, providing dentists with a comprehensive view.

Dental lab scanners create 3D images by scanning physical dental models or impressions of teeth and gums. These images are used for processing, correction, and manufacturing.

CAD/CAM Dentistry

CAD/CAM covers scanning inside the mouth, creating digital dental designs, milling/printing, and implementation. This process can be as quick as 40 minutes, enabling single-visit treatments.

Research shows CAD/CAM solutions make treatments accurate, faster, cheaper, and less burdensome for patients. Dentists, specialists, and lab technicians use this software to construct various dental restorations, prostheses, and treatment plans. These solutions speed up the planning, design, and manufacturing processes, making it easy for patients to assess.

Smile Design Software

In restorative dentistry, prosthodontists use specialized software for virtual smile design. This software combines photos and intraoral scans in realistic simulations tailored to the patient's facial features.

The clinician develops the treatment plan once the patient's data is sent to the dental lab. The smile design software visualizes the outcomes before the personalized treatment plan is created. Therefore, the patients can see and modify their new smile during the planning stage.

Dental 3D Printing

Dental 3D Printing

Dental 3D printing produces dental components like aligners, dentures, and crowns. Dental professionals employ intraoral scanners to capture precise images of a patient's teeth, converting them into a CAD file. This file is then utilized for 3D printing custom implants and molds.

3D printing has greatly improved and simplified patient treatment by streamlining the production of tailored dental devices.

Removable Denture Attachments

Removable denture attachments are components used in dental prosthetics to secure removable dentures to dental implants. Edison Medical™ showcases Locator Attachments, Ball Attachments, Bar Attachments, etc.

Multi-Unit & Screw Retained

Multi-Unit & Screw Retained

Dental professionals use multi-unit abutments for dental prostheses supported by two or more implants, fixed in place with screws. They are important for establishing stable and aesthetically pleasing implant-supported restorations in critical cases. Edison Medical™ shares its expertise in this field during the exhibition to advise dental professionals regarding screw-retained implant systems.
